Sporulation medium of Schaeffer

Purpose

Materials Needed

  • 8 g Difco nutrient broth
  • 1 g KCl
  • 1 g MgSO4 (7 H2O)
  • 0.002 g MnCl2 (4 H2O)

Protocol

  • adjust pH to 7.0
  • autoclave
  • aseptically add sterile 5X10-4 CaCl2 and 1X10-6 FeSO4
  • solidify with 17 g/L of agar
