New OBOEdit File Notes

To open a new project

• Open OBOEdit program
• Select File: New Ontology

This will open a new empty OBOEdit file

To adjust the settings for the project

• Metadata tab: id manager
  • new id setting

(+) profile name

• Metadata tab: namespace manager
  • make sure MOO.obo

This name is redundant and should be shortened to microbial_observable.obo since the obo means that it's an ontology file.

Terms

• (7, 1, 9999999) this is to indicate the numbers will be 7-digits long, starting at 1 and going through 9,999,999
• Commit

• If you put in a definition, then you have to put in a DBXref

  • database:MOO

ID: initials (AEZ) Default rule: MOO:$sequence (7,1,9999999)$
