Karow et al. (PMID:1846149) list W3101 as the parent of B178, but a review of the older literature indicates that strains B178 (aka W4221) and W3101 were both isolated as Gal- mutants of a common parental strain. Siegele (talk) 18:00, 21 March 2019 (UTC)
