In modern biology, the pangenome is the entire set of genes for all strains within a clade.[ref needed] Each set of orthologous genes found among the genomes included in the pangenome represents a pangene.

In the near feature, the OMP project will associate annotated phenotypes not only with a particular genotype but also with a particular pangene(s). Meanwhile, an excel spreadsheet can be downloaded from our github repository, that lists the cluster numbers and the ortholog members identified by gene_locus_ids for 36 strains of Escherichia coli and Shigella

Details of the workflow used to define the clusters of orthologous proteins will be available soon.
